Special Message Related to Alberta and Premier Danielle Smith: Embracing Unity, Moving Forward Together

The 2025 federal election has concluded, ushering in a new era of leadership under Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal Party. While some celebrate, others—especially in provinces like Alberta—are grappling with concern, frustration, and a sense of betrayal. As Leader of the Ontario Centrist Party, I want to speak directly to that feeling.

Alberta has always been a cornerstone of Canada’s economy—particularly through its energy sector. Many Albertans feel that recent federal environmental policies have overlooked their needs and jeopardized their livelihoods. Premier Danielle Smith has voiced these concerns, and she is right to do so. In a strong federation, every province deserves to feel heard and respected.

Ontario, as Canada’s most populous province, also bears a leadership responsibility. In this election, Ontarians turned out in strong numbers—surpassing the national average—and showed faith in our democratic system. But our responsibility doesn’t end at the ballot box. We must lead by example: by promoting unity, championing fairness, and making choices that reflect not just provincial interests—but the well-being of the whole country.

We acknowledge the deep challenges ahead: economic disparities, regional tension, affordability, and uncertainty on the global stage. These aren’t easy problems. But they are problems we can solve—together.

We must:

  • Embrace open dialogue

  • Respect different regional realities

  • Build a country where no one feels left behind

Prime Minister Carney has promised collaboration. We welcome that. But we will also hold him to it.

This is a moment for national healing—not division. Let’s move forward together, not as East vs. West, not as cities vs. regions—but as Canadians.
